OUR COMPANY

Tensive S.r.l. is a clinical-stage advanced biomaterials medical device company developing bioresorbable polymeric scaffolds for breast reconstruction and tissue marking. Our patented REGENERA™ biomimetic scaffold is designed to allow regeneration of a patient’s own breast tissue to create natural, safe, and lasting reconstruction for patients recovering from lumpectomy. The same technology is under evaluation for cosmetic procedures. The SOFTAG™ precision tissue marking device is designed to enable more targeted delivery of radiotherapy and increases the accuracy of surveillance and follow-up. Tensive’s mission is to improve clinical outcomes and the quality of life for breast cancer patients worldwide through accessible, innovative, and sustainable solutions. We believe every woman undergoing lumpectomy should have access to breast reconstruction that is safe, permanent, minimally invasive, and natural.

Our history

Tensive was born from a shared vision to bring together advanced biomaterials science and real clinical need. What began as a research effort to create new scaffolds for connective tissue regeneration soon evolved into a focused mission: developing bioresorbable implants capable of restoring the natural architecture of soft tissues. The founders, Irini Gerges, Margherita Tamplenizza, Federico Martello and Alessandro Tocchio, combined their expertise in chemistry, biology, biomaterials and engineering to build a platform designed to make breast reconstruction safer, more natural, and more accessible for patients worldwide. By assembling the biomaterial they had developed as a scaffold in a memory foam that is 97% empty and highly compressible, they were able to develop a device designed to allow, for the first time, the regeneration of natural breast tissue through a single, one-step procedure that is minimally invasive. Today, Tensive is working toward first regulatory approvals of its devices in 2027 in the U.S. and the EU.
